I was so excited to visit the home of fabulous architecture, gelato and The Lizzie McGuire Movie.
Knowing that I only had a few days in Rome, I made the most of my first day by going out and exploring the city. Although I was using trusty Citymapper, I soon discovered that Rome was an easy place to get lost in. Funnily enough, that led me to enjoying the city that much more. Getting lost led me to all these gorgeous side streets, piazzas, and the best lemon gelato I’ve ever had.
In the afternoon I began my Topdeck trip. As I am a first time solo traveller I thought it was a good idea to go as part of an organised trip in terms of safety, and the fact that I am rather disorganised.
Our trip began with a walking tour of Rome. We visited all the major sights including the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and so on. As interesting as all the landmarks and history is within Rome, I find the quantity to be overwhelming. This sounds weird (and I’m sure not everyone will agree), but I find when there is too much going on that I fail to really absorb the information and neglect the historical value.
